Author Archives: Jeanita Lyman

Jeanita Lyman is a second-generation Bay Area local who has been closely observing the changes to her home and surrounding area since childhood. Since coming aboard the Pleasanton Weekly staff in 2020, the San Ramon Valley has been her primary area of focus and coverage.

In addition to regular coverage of officials and activities in Danville and San Ramon, Jeanita has gravitated towards stories surrounding education, policing, and local history. These have included coverage of turmoil resulting in the chancellor's resignation at the Contra Costa Community College District, personal accounts from the mother of Laudemer Arboleda and father of Tyrell Wilson, both victims of fatal police shootings by the same former Danville officer, and a historically accurate account of Dublin's Irish roots.

Prior to joining Embarcadero Media, Jeanita covered the Peninsula for the San Mateo Daily Journal, while studying journalism at Skyline College in San Bruno and Mills College in Oakland.
